Plenković: Kujundžić must explain the statement that the Church will participate in the preparation of the abortion law

HDZ President Andrej Plenković said on Thursday in Šibenik after a party meeting that there is a unified and strong support for the ratification of the Istanbul Convention in that county, and he is confident that it will be ratified with convincing support from the majority, adding, “we will see who from HDZ will be against the ratification.”

After Gospić and Zadar, the Prime Minister arrived in Šibenik, where he met in the party premises with the President of the County Committee of HDZ Nediljko Dujić, Šibenik Mayor Željko Burić, and Member of Parliament Branka Juričev-Martinčev.

In a statement to reporters after the meeting, he commented on the announced ratification of the Istanbul Convention.

“The Convention will certainly be ratified. HDZ has made a decision at the Presidency and at all party bodies. I believe there will be very convincing majority support,” said Plenković, adding that we will see who from HDZ in the Parliament will be against the ratification of the Istanbul Convention.

Regarding the announcement by Health Minister Milan Kujundžić that the Catholic Church will participate in the preparation of the abortion law, he reiterated that they have not yet discussed this, and “the minister has not explained his statement from a few days ago.”

He emphasized that everyone will be included in the public debate, and working groups will be proposed by the competent Ministry of Health.
