Most: Miroslav Šimić leaves the Parliament for entrepreneurship, new representative Sonja Čikotić

Sonja Čikotić becomes the new parliamentary representative of Most instead of Miroslav Šimić, who plans to dedicate himself to entrepreneurship and the party’s local organization in Slavonia, Most reported on Thursday.

Sonja Čikotić is a former chief advisor to the Minister of Administration and Deputy Minister of Regional Development and European Union Funds in the government of Tihomir Orešković.

Most states that the fundamental commitment of the new representative in Parliament will be education, with a primary interest in EU funds and projects as well as public administration. She plans to provide greater support to farmers through her work, as she has experience in that sector.

Šimić had previously announced that he would suspend his parliamentary mandate from April 1 due to obligations at the Osijek company Karolina.

He states that he remains the vice president of Most and will actively participate in the Osijek, or Slavonian organization.

– The Presidency of Most has decided that I will be replaced in Parliament by Sonja Čikotić, who was second on the Most list in the IV electoral district and received the most preferential votes. I am confident that based on her experience in the private and public sectors, she will adapt very well to her new role, Šimić stated.

Sonja Čikotić has led the Office for International Cooperation, Scientific and Professional Projects at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Osijek for more than four years. She emphasizes that she wants “Slavonia, from where she comes, to receive the support it deserves, and not just promises of projects that never materialize.”
