Although artificial intelligence has become an indispensable part of smart devices, especially smartphones that we use daily, research shows that people know very little about this technology.
A global study by KRC Research and Weber Shandwick revealed that 34 percent of people say they know nothing about artificial intelligence, while 48 percent say they know very little. Nevertheless, other studies show that most people, despite a lack of information, believe that artificial intelligence can be beneficial to them.
Artificial intelligence is ubiquitous in everyday life, although research indicates that knowledge about this type of technology is very weak.
In a study by ARM and Northstar Research Partners, 61 percent of respondents believe that artificial intelligence can make the world a better place, with 57 percent preferring to have an eye test conducted by an AI-powered “doctor,” and 55 percent trusting the safety of autonomous vehicles.
A brief survey conducted by Huawei on the streets of Zagreb showed that the situation is similar in Croatia, which you can see in the video.
– We use systems based on artificial intelligence every day. For example, AI in search engines ranks results so that the more important ones are ranked higher. Then, such systems recommend products to us in online stores. Smartphones are also full of artificial intelligence, starting from barcode recognition to systems capable of correcting typographical errors, including email filtering systems, said Prof. Dr. Jan Šnajder.

Artificial intelligence has a wide range of applications across various industries. For instance, autopilots on commercial flights operate using artificial intelligence, so under normal conditions, a pilot needs to take control for only seven minutes during takeoff and landing. Autonomous vehicles are also increasingly coming to the roads, and Huawei recently presented its model of such a vehicle that reacts to obstacles in road traffic in collaboration with the Porsche brand.
