The Pelješac Bridge Project Moves Forward

Although news emerged in the media today that due to a new complaint regarding the tender for the construction of access roads to the Pelješac Bridge, submitted to the State Commission for the Control of Public Procurement Procedures by the Austrian company Swietelsky, the project has ‘stalled’, as we unofficially learn, the project will proceed as soon as the DKOM makes a decision on the complaint submitted by the company Strabag, with the consortium Astaldi – Ictas, regarding the selection of the Chinese consortium.

The complaint from the Austrians is the third complaint related to the construction of the Pelješac Bridge submitted to the DKOM; however, they are unrelated to each other as they pertain to three separate tenders: for the supervision of the bridge construction, the construction of access roads, and the actual construction of the bridge.

Therefore, if, according to DKOM announcements, the complaint is resolved soon, the project can continue its implementation regardless of the other two complaints. After all, the construction of the bridge will take at least three to four years, while the construction of the access road will take only a year, so there is no reason for the entire project to be stalled by complaints on separate tenders.
