A Friendly Greeting and Smile from the Seller are Key to a Good Purchase

A greeting and smile from the seller are important for a pleasant shopping experience, as shown by the research conducted by the mystery shopping agency Heraklea “What is Important to the Customer?”.

For 72 percent of customers, a greeting from the staff is important upon entering a sales location, and this greeting must be friendly, not just professional. Furthermore, three-quarters of customers consider it important for the staff to smile during the greeting or communication. On the other hand, 26.5 percent are satisfied with a routine greeting, and only 1.7 percent do not find it important, according to the research conducted in February of this year.

When it comes to leaving the store, 98 percent of customers believe it is desirable and important for the seller to greet them, while 81 percent expect a thank you for their visit or purchase. At the same time, 69 percent of customers consider it unimportant for the staff to invite them for a return visit to the sales facility.

Furthermore, 77 percent of respondents believe it is important for the staff to inquire about their wishes and needs during the purchase, while just over 52 percent do not expect and do not consider it important for the seller to offer them a complementary product along with the one they purchased.

When asked, “Is it more important for the staff to list the product features or to explain the benefits you will gain from that product?”, 57 percent of respondents chose the first option, while 43 percent consider it more important for them to be clearly informed about the benefits they will gain from that product.

The vast majority of customers, 87 percent, perceive the quality of service, namely the friendliness of the staff and customer orientation, as more important, while nearly 13 percent prioritize neatness, clarity, and modern organization.
