The City of Bjelovar will write off 2.5 million kuna of uncollected receivables, primarily related to the rental of business premises and municipal fees from companies that have gone bankrupt and have been removed from the court register in the last three years, emphasized Željka Vizi, head of the collection and legal affairs department of the City of Bjelovar, during the current hour of the City Council meeting on Monday.

In response to a question from ruling HDZ councilor Višnja Biljan, Željka Vizi also stated that the City of Bjelovar had taken all legal measures to collect the debts before the decision to write off the receivables. She added that the amount will be even higher by the end of this year, considering that there have been quite a few bankruptcies recently.

Regarding the write-off of debts of individuals, Vizi highlighted that their share is much smaller and that it mostly concerns statute of limitations, death of the debtor, and renunciation of inheritance rights, with individual amounts not exceeding five thousand kuna.
