Today in Croatia – The Week with Workers with Disabilities Begins

We announce the most important events in Croatia for Monday, March 19, 2018:

ZAGREB – A press conference of the Ministry of Science and Education (at 10 AM, Donje Svetice 38) where the Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak and the Assistant Minister Lidija Kralj will present the results of the Public Call for schools to submit requests for the implementation of the experimental program “School for Life”.

ZAGREB – A ceremonial signing of the Agreement on cooperation in the implementation of the Program of preventive systematic examinations of Croatian veterans from the Homeland War for 2018 (12 PM, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Croatian Veterans in Zagreb, at Trg Nevenke Topalušić 1). The agreement will be signed by the Minister of Veterans Tomo Medved, the Minister of Health Milan Kujundžić, the Assistant Director for Quality of the Croatian Institute of Public Health Tomislav Benjak, and the directors and/or deputy directors of general and county hospitals, clinical hospitals, and clinical hospital centers.

ZAGREB – The Croatian Association of Workers with Disabilities (HSUIR) is organizing a national campaign “A Week with Workers with Disabilities” as part of the National Day of Workers with Disabilities, which will begin with a working meeting at the Institute for Expertise, Professional Rehabilitation, and Employment of Persons with Disabilities (11 AM, Mihanovićeva 3). The campaign is organized within the framework of the Development Cooperation of the Knowledge Center and will last from March 19 to March 25. The Association of Workers with Disabilities aims to inform the public about the issues faced by workers with disabilities, possible solutions, and to establish cooperation with government bodies. The campaign aims to highlight that the potential and abilities of workers with disabilities are not utilized in Croatia, as the prevailing opinion in society is that disability is synonymous with inability to work.

ZAGREB – The Association for the Prevention of Overweight is organizing a conference “Obesity – Causes, Consequences, Prevention, and Treatment” (9 AM, Hotel Dubrovnik, Gajeva 1). The conference is held as part of Croatia’s first official observance of “Obesity Awareness Day”. The sponsors are the City of Zagreb, the President of the Republic, the President of the Croatian Parliament, and the Ministry of Health.

ZAGREB – Organized by the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) and the Croatian Banking Association (HUB), a conference “PSD2 – Is Open Banking Coming (also) to Croatia?” will be held, where the first results of domestic research on the impact of the PSD2 Directive on consumers, banks, and the information technology sector will be presented (10:00 AM, HGK, Roosevelt Square 2).

ZAGREB – The total gross premium charged by 21 Croatian insurance companies at the end of February this year amounted to 1.7 billion kuna, representing a growth of 4.07 percent compared to February 2017, according to data from the Croatian Insurance Bureau (HUO). In the non-life insurance group, the gross premium charged in February compared to the same month last year increased by 6.6 percent, to 1.26 billion kuna, while in the life insurance segment, the gross premium charged recorded a decrease of 2.4 percent, to 457.76 million kuna.
