Russian General Valery Gerasimov stated that the Russian army will conduct a second test of its new, most powerful nuclear intercontinental ballistic missile amid rising tensions with NATO.
– The first test launch of this missile was conducted at the end of December last year. Preparations for another test at the Plesetsk cosmodrome are currently in full swing, Gerasimov said, as reported by ScienceAlert.
On March 1, during his speech before deputies and parliamentarians, Putin spoke about a new ‘invincible and unstoppable unlimited range system’ called RS-28 or ‘Satan 2’, and footage of the tests was also shown. The RS-28 can carry up to 16 nuclear warheads.
This speech by Putin was held ahead of the elections scheduled for March 18. Although no one seriously expects him to lose an election in which there are virtually no opponents, and he also controls the media, experts told Business Insider that he is under pressure due to a lack of tangible leadership results.
Both the United States and the United Kingdom characterized Putin’s speech about new nuclear systems as ‘irresponsible’ and both countries are ready to condemn Moscow if authorities prove that the poisoning of a former Russian spy in the UK was an order from the Kremlin.
British Prime Minister Theresa May stated that it is ‘very likely that the attack was a Russian initiative and that the United Kingdom will retaliate if this is proven to be true.’
