For Adventurers, Increasing Content in Central Dalmatia

Adventure tourism is an opportunity to extend the tourist season in Central Dalmatia, where there is an increasing amount of content that attracts guests eager for adventure and for whom a vacation is not just swimming and sunbathing, it was stated on Wednesday at the conference on adventure forms of tourism in Central Dalmatia.

For the first time this tourist season, the offer of adventure tourism in Central Dalmatia will include a via ferrata, a hiking path that is traversed with the help of a cable, it was said at the conference.

Tourists will be able to enjoy two via ferratas – in Omiš and Perun in Strožanac, both approximately three hundred meters long.

Increasing Interest in Adventure Tourism

The president of the adventure tourism section of the Split-Dalmatia County, Iris Prebeg, emphasized that interest in adventure tourism is growing.

– Tourism and summer vacations are no longer just about the beach and swimming. We are expanding, prolonging, and enriching the offer of our county by providing activities in nature – from hiking, canyoning, rafting, climbing to cycling, and every year we enhance the offer with new outdoor activities, added Prebeg.

The tourism coordinator of the Split Chamber of Commerce, Nataša Bušić, stated that the main goal of the conference is to present and offer adventure tourism in Central Dalmatia to the business community, agencies involved in mediating the sale of tourist excursions, and commercial accommodation capacities such as hotels, hostels, and camps.

In the first part of the conference, various adventure activities were presented, while the continuation will feature B2B meetings of agencies organizing adventure activities with intermediary agencies, hotels, and hostels from all over Dalmatia.

– If we want to extend the pre and post-season, we need something like adventure tourism. This year we also have a via ferrata and a zip line on Biokovo, said Bušić, adding that the offer expands every year.

She mentioned that in Split, the offer of adventure tourism is progressing, especially on Marjan where sea kayaking, climbing, and hiking are available, and in the surrounding area, there are canyoning, rafting, and various excursions.
