The cult crime series The Sopranos will be resurrected thanks to the film “The Many Saints Of Newark,” which takes place in Newark during the 1960s, at the time of bloody confrontations between Italian and African American gangs, reveals Deadline.
The screenplay is written by David Chase, who is also the creator of the TV original, with the help of Lawrence Konner, and the cast is expected to include some familiar faces from the series, although it has not yet been announced who they are. Among them, of course, will not be the main actor James Gandolfini, who passed away from a heart attack in June 2013.
>>>HBO is looking for Croatian scripts for local series production
The search for a director is still ongoing, under the supervision of Chase himself.
The Sopranos aired from 1999 to 2007 on HBO and is now considered a series that represents a turning point in television history.
It is also one of the most awarded crime series of all time, having won 21 Emmys and five Golden Globes over eight years.
