VIDEO/PHOTO: Today’s Rimac C_Two Outshines Tomorrow’s Tesla Roadster

Mate Rimac, founder and owner of Rimac Automobili, presented his new electric supercar C_Two, which reaches a speed of 412 kilometers per hour, at the International Motor Show in Geneva on Tuesday.

The new car from Rimac Automobili is “a completely new product and nothing has been carried over from the previous model” Concept One, emphasized Mate Rimac during the presentation in Geneva. “Everything has changed compared to Concept One,” Rimac added, according to media reports.

C_Two, according to the published specifications, has a power of 1914 HP, 690 more than the previous model of the company, reaches a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in 1.97 seconds, and from 300 kilometers per hour in 11.8 seconds. In terms of such performance, power, and speed, the new product from Rimac Automobili surpasses not only its predecessor Concept One but also the future Tesla Roadster.

The car has four electric motors, one for each wheel, uses a dual-speed transmission with two clutches at the rear, while a single-speed transmission is located at the front.

Starting price 1.7 million euros

The company announced in Croatian media that it will produce 150 of these cars and that all vehicles will be manufactured in Croatia. The starting price of the C_Two car is, as stated by the sales director of Rimac Automobili, 1.7 million euros.

International media noted that the new Rimac model features a small specially designed Pastor fire extinguisher with the inscription on the strap “In case of hill climb, extinguish fire,” which is an obvious allusion to the incident in which the world-famous car show host Richard Hammond destroyed Rimac’s Concept One during the filming of the Grand Tour series. Hammond, while filming a segment about Rimac’s car, crashed off the road due to excessive speed last year in Switzerland, and after rolling down a slope, the car caught fire and was completely burned.

Hammond responded to a query from the DriveTribe portal for a comment saying he is “thrilled.” “I have always wanted to have a real impact on car design. Now I have it,” he said.

At the presentation of the new Rimac car, the famous Croatian cellists 2 Cellos performed.
