We announce the most important events from politics and the economy for Monday, March 5:

ZAGREB – The President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, will participate in the 11th session of the Homeland Security Council, which will also include high guests: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Damir Krstičević and Chief of Police Nikola Milina. Photographers and cameramen can capture the beginning of the Council session after which a statement will be issued (2 PM, Pantovčak 241).

ZAGREB – A press conference regarding the presentation of open issues concerning the adoption of the Personal Data Protection Act will be held at the Independent Union of Science and Higher Education (10 AM, Ul. Florijana Andrašeca 18A/I).

ZAGREB – The Friedrich Ebert Foundation is organizing a conference on the topic “Building a Good Society Towards a More Social and Democratic Europe – Social Investment in Croatia.” Among others, Davor Bernardić will speak at the conference (11 AM, Kino Europa – Mueller Hall, Varšavska 3).

Economy:

ZAGREB – The organizers of the international tourism fair Place2Go will announce the program of this year’s fair, which will be held for the seventh time in Zagreb from March 16 to 18, at a press conference. The fair will present new trends and destinations for travel around the world and Croatia at the Zagreb Arena (11:00 AM, Kaptol Boutique Cinema, Nova Ves 17).

ZAGREB – Average producer prices of agricultural products in 2017 increased by 4.5 percent compared to the previous year, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics. Prices of plant products increased by 5.2 percent, while prices of livestock and livestock products rose by 3.8 percent. Grain prices increased by 11.8 percent, and industrial crop prices by 10.4 percent. Fruit prices rose by 24.5 percent, with apples and mandarins having the largest share in that group. The increase in mandarin prices was influenced by an extremely low yield in 2017 due to adverse weather conditions, the CBS emphasizes.
