Plenković’s ‘as solid as concrete coalition’ held a four-hour meeting, Peruško also dropped by

Representatives of the ruling coalition parties stated on Monday after a meeting with Prime Minister Andrej Plenković at the Government that they discussed various current issues and that the Government’s commissioner for Agrokor, Fabris Peruško, presented the situation in Agrokor. In response to journalists’ inquiries, they emphasized that there was no discussion about the opposition’s initiative for the recall of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Martina Dalić.

The meeting at the Government was regular and lasted more than four hours, and the leader of HNS, Ivan Vrdoljak, stated that many current topics were discussed, from GDP growth and the program for stimulating the economy and investments prepared by Deputy Prime Minister Martina Dalić, to the problems of blocked accounts and enforcement law.

He added that there was no discussion about the opposition’s initiative for the recall of Dalić.

“We were more concerned with Croatian citizens than with the initiatives of the opposition,” Vrdoljak emphasized in his statement.

At the meeting in the Government, there was also the government commissioner for Agrokor, Peruško, who presented the situation in Agrokor, intentions, and timelines for achieving a settlement, he added.

“The coalition is as solid as concrete”

The leader of HDSSB, Branimir Glavaš, also stated after the meeting that various topics were discussed, after which they were informed about the situation in Agrokor, and further work of the parliamentary majority was agreed upon.

“The conclusion is that the coalition is as solid as concrete,” Glavaš emphasized.

The leader of HSLS, Darinko Kosor, told reporters that the main topic was the adoption of urgent measures to resolve the issues of blocked accounts, and proposals will be presented by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Croatia in two weeks.

“We were all united on this topic and presented our proposals, and in the next two weeks we will come up with a proposal that will be presented by the Ministry of Justice,” Kosor said, reporting that the discussion on this topic lasted two hours.

Regarding Agrokor, he added, they discussed it for an hour and a half, and Kosor says that with the appointment of the new extraordinary commissioner, Peruško, one burden has been lifted.

“We expect that by April 10, a draft settlement will be reached, and the deadline for signing is by July 10, as was stated at the parliamentary Economic Committee,” he emphasized.

SDSS is still listening

The president of SDSS, Milorad Pupovac, confirmed that there was discussion about Agrokor, but not about the recall of Martina Dalić.

When asked whether SDSS would support Dalić in the Parliament, Pupovac said that they would see how the discussion would unfold and with what arguments the clubs would present.

“After presenting the situation of what has been done and what will be done, the picture is somewhat more complete and the knowledge is more complete, and when it comes to the political aspect of the story, SDSS is still listening to all aspects,” Pupovac stated.

He added that there was no discussion at the meeting about the conclusions of the Commission for Dealing with the Past. He added that this would be discussed in the coming days, certainly before the commemoration in Jasenovac, to avoid a repeat of the situation from a year ago when separate commemorations were held.

“We expect to agree on everything that bothers the representatives of the victims’ people to discuss it,” he said.

Radin satisfied with Peruško

The representative of the Italian national minority, Furio Radin, also commented on the conclusions of the Commission for Dealing with the Past, emphasizing that his position is that the salute ‘For the homeland ready’ is a fascist and Ustaše salute and should not be used, but that he would like to be informed before the court.

Regarding Agrokor, he expressed satisfaction with commissioner Peruško, whom he believes will help resolve the situation. When it comes to the recall of Dalić, he said that this is a case in which the media and the opposition have made a judgment, and he still does not know the content on which that judgment was made.

“We will listen, I will see, and in the end, I will make a decision,” he said.

In response to a journalist’s conclusion and remark ‘isn’t it proven that there was a conflict of interest of the former commissioner Ante Ramljak and subsequently, by command responsibility, also of Minister Dalić,’ Radin replied that if command responsibility is to be pursued, then trust in the Government should be sought.

“And not to run away from it, because the opposition is afraid of it in order to avoid new elections in which they would have disastrous results. Why don’t they seek trust in the Government?” Radin asked.

Critical Čačić

The only critic after the meeting was Radimir Čačić, the leader of Reformists, who claimed that in the ‘Government we have a Deputy Prime Minister and a Minister who are doing everything to harm the city and the county from which they come,’ alluding to Deputy Prime Minister Predrag Štromar and Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak. “This has its limits, and the court will ultimately have its say, but a Prime Minister who is unable to resolve such direct political obstruction must be aware that we must react to this,” Čačić added.

The opposition’s initiative for the recall of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Dalić was assessed as unserious and irresponsible at a time when the process (in Agrokor) is concluding.
