The Šibenik restaurant Pelegrini and the Dubrovnik 360o have received one Michelin star, while the list of Croatian restaurants with a Michelin recommendation, or the fork and spoon designation, has been enriched with 24 new restaurants, reported the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) on Thursday.
This year, Michelin Bib Gourmand designations were awarded for the first time, which were received by four restaurants: Konoba Mate (Korčula), Dunav (Ilok), Vuglec Breg (Krapina), and Konoba Fetivi (Split). This designation is awarded to restaurants that offer quality menus at affordable prices.
This is the result of visits to Croatian restaurants by professional Michelin inspectors, who toured restaurants across the country during 2017, according to the HTZ statement.

The new guide for Croatia has been published on the Michelin website, the world’s most significant and recognized restaurant guide.
With this year’s selection, Croatia now has a total of three restaurants with a Michelin star and 55 restaurants with a Michelin recommendation.
Bib Gourmand Designations
This year, Michelin Bib Gourmand designations were awarded for the first time, which were received by four restaurants: Konoba Mate (Korčula), Dunav (Ilok), Vuglec Breg (Krapina), and Konoba Fetivi (Split). This designation is awarded to restaurants that offer quality menus at affordable prices.

Additionally, with this selection on the Michelin map, besides Istria, Dubrovnik, and Zagreb, which were included last year, many other destinations such as Šibenik, Split, Ilok, Korčula, Krapina, Lovran, Osijek, Varaždin, Velika Gorica, Zadar, and others have found their place.
HTZ considers the inclusion of new restaurants in the Michelin selection a strong incentive for further continuous improvement of the domestic gastronomic scene, as well as a significant global promotion of Croatia as a top gourmet destination.
Croatian Excellence in Gastronomy
It reminds that among Croatian restaurants, the first to join the elite group of Michelin-starred restaurants was the Rovinj restaurant Monte, which received one Michelin star in 2017, which it retained for 2018.

“Croatia is on the gastronomic map of the world, which we certainly deserve. The new Michelin stars and recommendations for Croatian restaurants are proof that our gastronomic scene meets very demanding international quality criteria. Michelin is a global synonym for excellence in gastronomy, and its designations provide excellent promotional potential that destinations, where selected restaurants have entered the exclusive circle of the best restaurants in the world, will know how to capitalize on,” said HTZ director Kristjan Staničić.
He announced that HTZ will continue to carry out numerous activities aimed at positioning Croatia as an attractive tourist destination rich in gastronomic offerings.
