The Prime Minister of Croatia, Andrej Plenković, stated on Saturday that the Government will propose the appointment of a new extraordinary Management Board in Agrokor and will announce its decision once everything is agreed upon and all consultations are completed.
Discussions are ongoing, they are discreet, and when everything is confirmed and agreed upon, once all consultations are completed, including with creditors and the temporary creditors’ council, we will announce our decision. It is important when the Government makes a decision at its session,” said Plenković after the meeting of the Council for Slavonia, Baranja, and Srijem, responding to a journalist’s question about whether a new extraordinary commissioner for Agrokor will be appointed by Monday at 3 PM.

When asked whether the new commissioner will be someone from the Agrokor system or outside of it, he did not want to answer, but added that the qualities such a person should possess are “competence, conscientiousness, and the ability to complete the settlement process and the tasks set by law in a short time.”
When asked whether the new extraordinary commissioner will continue the work initiated by Ante Ramljak, Plenković stated that “the process has been ongoing for 10 months and a lot has been accomplished.”
I believe that the entire public, commentators, the opposition, and the media are creating an atmosphere as if something is going to happen now. What was significant was our engagement a year ago, because without it, the question is how the Croatian economy and financial system would look, assessed Plenković.

This is a new situation; we have a responsibility to find a way to complete the process by the end, within the appropriate legal deadlines, with the fundamental goal of reaching a settlement, ensuring job sustainability and the company’s operations, and achieving a solution that will leave all stakeholders as least dissatisfied as possible, the Prime Minister emphasized.
Regarding the opposition’s criticism that he is making decisions too slowly, Plenković stated that he makes decisions and leads policy at a pace he considers best and most responsible for the Government and for Croatia, and that there is no chance that someone else will impose a rhythm on him, neither in life, nor in politics, let alone in leading the Government.

When asked by a journalist whether he believes that the presence of the Požega-Slavonia County Prefect Alojz Tomašević at the meeting of the Council for Slavonia, Baranja, and Srijem undermines the credibility of the event, Prime Minister Plenković stated that based on institutional logic, all county prefects are members of this Council.
“He is no longer a member of HDZ; he holds the position of prefect. In my opinion, it would have been better if he had resigned from that position as well; however, what matters much more to me is how much money, new jobs, and prospects we will bring to Slavonia, rather than some minor situations, which are unfortunately bad, but happen, and we deal with them. That is not important for today’s event,” Plenković replied.
