Citizens, you can no longer collect and gather forest fruits without a permit

As of February 20 of this year, citizens need to obtain an annual permit from Hrvatske šume for the collection of non-timber forest products, Hrvatske šume announced on Friday.

From that date, the Regulation on Amendments to the Regulation on the Use of Non-Timber Forest Products is in effect, according to which citizens must personally, by mail, or by email obtain an annual permit from the forest administrations, branches of Hrvatske šume for the collection of non-timber forest products for personal use, which will be issued free of charge.

The issued annual permit is valid until December 31 of the current year in the area of the forest administration branch that issued the permit.

The application must include the name and surname, address, and OIB of the person to whom the permit will be issued, the type of non-timber products, and the area of collection for which the permit is requested.

The permit is valid for all non-timber forest products except for underground mushrooms (truffles).

For personal needs, up to three kilograms of above-ground mushroom fruiting bodies, five bunches of asparagus, ten kilograms of chestnuts, blackberries, raspberries, etc. can be collected daily.

If non-timber forest products are collected for processing, trade, and other commerce, their collection and harvesting are regulated by a contract, and before its conclusion, the applicant is required to provide appropriate payment security for the collection fee and compensation for any potential damage.
