Jasminka Horvat Martinović is the new President of the Management Board of Wiener Insurance

The bank insurer Erste Insurance will be merged with Wiener Insurance, pending approval from the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency. The current President of the Management Board of Wiener Insurance, Walter Leonhartsberger-Schrott, is retiring, and he will be succeeded by Jasminka Horvat Martinović, who has been a member of the Management Board of Wiener Insurance since 2014. Snježana Bertoncelj, the former President of the Management Board of Erste Insurance, will join the Management Board subject to approval from the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency.

Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) in Croatia is consolidating the strengths of both companies under one brand to expand the bank insurance business. “By merging these two companies, the VIG group promotes further development of bank insurance, focusing on non-life and health insurance. The greatest benefit for clients, Erste & Steiermärkische Bank d.d. and insurance, is seen in the consolidation of resources and competencies,” explains Peter Höfinger, a member of the Management Board of Vienna Insurance Group and the responsible member for Croatia.

Walter Leonhartsberger-Schrott has been working for VIG in Croatia since 2005, and after the merger of both companies in the VIG group, he will leave the Management Board upon retirement.

One of the official recognitions of the work of the Management Board and the entire team of Wiener Insurance was the award of the Golden Kuna in November 2017.

Jasminka Horvat Martinović as of May 1 is the President of the Management Board of Wiener Insurance

Jasminka Horvat Martinović, who has been a member of the Management Board of Wiener Insurance since 2014, will be appointed as of May 1, 2018, as the President of the Management Board of Wiener Insurance. She was born in 1970 in Zagreb and studied mathematics at the University of Zagreb. She is a certified actuary and has gained comprehensive knowledge of the insurance business during her tenure on the Management Board. As before, her main responsibilities will be in the areas of non-life insurance, reinsurance, and IT.

In addition to Jasminka Horvat Martinović, the President of the Management Board, the Management Board will also include Božo Šaravanja, responsible for sales, and Tamara Rendić, CFO. Snježana Bertoncelj, the long-time President of the Management Board of Erste Insurance, will be appointed to the Management Board of Wiener Insurance, subject to approval by the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency, and will be responsible for life insurance.

Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) has acquired several insurance companies (Aurum, Cosmopolitan Life, Helios, Kvarner, and Erste Insurance) in Croatia over the years and has gradually merged them. Since 2013, Wiener Insurance, which was formed by merging Helios Insurance with Kvarner Insurance and Erste Insurance, operates as part of the VIG group. Thus, VIG held a 16 percent share in life insurance at the end of 2017, ranking third among insurers, and approximately 9 percent share, placing fourth in the overall Croatian insurance market.
