PGŽ: 4 million kuna for co-financing the Program for Balanced Development

The Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has announced public calls and will co-finance programs and projects for balanced development in 2018 with four million kuna, and an additional million kuna from the budget will be allocated for documentation preparation, the county administration reported on Tuesday.

The county states that within the Program for Balanced Development, capital projects and development programs of local self-government units and companies co-owned or owned by local self-government units are monitored and co-financed. By co-financing development programs and capital projects, which began in 2014, the aim is to enable the development of public infrastructure and contribute to encouraging investments in the county, thereby strengthening regional capacities and promoting a long-term sustainable and territorially balanced model of development for all three sub-regional units of the county – Gorski Kotar, islands, and the coastal area, without neglecting urbanized areas.

The county emphasizes that the key role in utilizing non-repayable funds from European structural and investment funds is the preparedness of projects for co-financing, which involves the preparation of project documentation, which, in turn, requires significant funds. Therefore, since 2015, a Program for Co-financing the Preparation of Project Documentation has been implemented for local units in the county, and since then, 43 projects have been co-financed with a total of 3.3 million kuna.

The county allocated 6.8 million kuna for co-financing the balanced development program in 2016 and 2017 and co-financed 28 projects of local self-government units and 10 projects of communal companies. Among them are eight projects for the development of water supply and drainage in Gorski Kotar worth about 960,000 kuna, while a total of about 1.8 million kuna was allocated for the development of water supply and drainage. Projects for the development of business zones were co-financed with one million kuna, and about 1.7 million kuna was allocated for the construction and equipping of kindergartens and children’s playgrounds.
