We announce the most important events in Croatia for Friday, February 16, 2018.:

ZAGREB – The Croatian Parliament will continue its plenary session on Friday with a discussion on the ratification of the Agreement on Strategic Partnership between the European Union and its member states on one side and Canada on the other, after which a vote will follow on the points discussed so far, including new members of the Commission for the Decision on Conflict of Interest. (9:30 AM, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – The Club of Representatives of the Living Wall and the SNAGA party will warn at a press conference about the practice of non-compliance with the Law on Medically Assisted Reproduction and the difficulties faced by couples trying to expand their families in this way. The conference will feature SNAGA party representative Goran Aleksić and party members Ana Šimić from Šibenik and Katarina Turković Gulin from Rijeka (11 AM, Croatian Parliament, Ivana Kukuljevića Hall, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – “The Start of the Campaign for the 2019 European Parliament Elections” is the theme of the press conference to be held by the parliamentary Club of the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS). The conference will feature representatives Krešo Beljak, president of HSS, Ana-Marija Petin, Davor Vlaović, Željko Lenart, Mladen Madjer, HSS Secretary General Ilija Ćorić, and HSS International Secretary Darko Till. (10 AM, Croatian Parliament, Ivana Kukuljevića Hall, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – The Ministry of Health will ceremonially hand over the first contracts for the allocation of non-repayable funds for the projects of “Specialist Training of Medical Doctors” within the European Operational Program “Efficient Human Resources” for the period 2014 – 2020. The signatories of the trilateral Contracts for the allocation of non-repayable funds are Minister of Health Milan Kujundžić, Director of the Croatian Employment Service Ante Lončar, and directors of health centers and emergency medical services. Marko Pavić, Minister of Labor and Pension System, will also attend the ceremony (11 AM, Ministry of Health, Ksaver 200a).

ZAGREB – As part of the procedure for the election of the rector of the University of Zagreb, candidates for rector will present their programs at the 6th extraordinary session of the University Senate (12 PM, auditorium of the University of Zagreb). A press conference will be held at 2 PM in the small council chamber of the University of Zagreb (Trg Republike Hrvatske 14).

ZAGREB – The public call for schools to submit applications for the implementation of the experimental program “School for Life” will be presented at a press conference in the Multimedia Hall of the Ministry of Science and Education (10 AM, Ministry of Science and Education, Donje Svetice 38). The Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak and Assistant Minister Lidija Kralj will speak about the latest chapter of the curricular reform preparation at the conference.

ZAGREB – On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights (HHO) and International Human Rights Day, awards for outstanding contributions to the protection and promotion of human rights will be ceremonially presented to individuals from Croatia and abroad (6 PM, auditorium of the National and University Library, Croatian Brotherhood Community 4).

ZAGREB – The Croatian Association of Trade Unions (HURS) will warn at a press conference about the possibility of a strike at Dalekovod production, after negotiations with management on a new collective agreement failed, as well as the mediation of the negotiating committees of the employer and the union. The conference will feature the president of the Dalekovod Production Union and representative of the workers in the Supervisory Board Ivica Bajlović and HURS president Miroslav Hrašćanec (10:30 AM, HURS premises, Gajeva 10/II).

Economy:

ZADAR – Introductory conference on the project “Development of the Traffic Master Plan for the Functional Region of Northern Dalmatia”. The implementation of the project is co-financed by the Cohesion Fund within the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014 – 2020 in the amount of 4 million kuna, of which 3.4 million is from the Cohesion Fund, and 601,500 kuna is the national contribution. The City of Zadar is implementing the project in cooperation with Zadar County, which participates in the project as a partner (10:00 AM, Kneževa Palace, Poljana Šime Budinića 3).

KRALJEVICA – The President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović and Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković will participate in the ceremony of handover and christening of the new ferry of Rapska plovidba “Four Bell Towers”, built at the Dalmont shipyard in Kraljevica. The new ferry will be able to accommodate 594 passengers and 99 personal vehicles, and will operate on the state ferry line Stinica-Mišnjak (Rab), for which Rapska plovidba has received a concession for a ten-year period. A ceremonial address by the President of the Republic is planned (11:00 AM, Dalmont Shipyard, King Tomislav Coast 8).
