Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak supported journalists’ demands for the opening of the Senate sessions at the University of Zagreb, where candidates for rector will present their programs.
There is a public interest in this. It is not just about an election that is important for the Senate, but for all of Croatia, said Minister Divjak in response to journalists’ questions at a press conference where the topic was the public call for applications for the implementation of an experimental program in schools.
The largest university in Croatia, besides its enormous potential, also has a clear public responsibility. I appeal for the sessions to be open and for the public to have access to information, said Minister Divjak.

Journalists from 16 media outlets have appealed to the University of Zagreb to allow them to directly follow the Senate sessions on February 16, where candidates for rector will present their programs, and the Senate session on February 23, where the rector of the University of Zagreb will be elected by secret ballot.
In the appeal forwarded to the university’s Electoral Commission, journalists from 16 outlets request that the Electoral Commission allow them to directly follow the aforementioned Senate sessions for the sake of objective and professional reporting.
