We announce the most important events in Croatia for Wednesday, February 14, 2018:
ZAGREB – Continuation of the session of the Croatian Parliament. The Croatian Parliament is expected to continue its session on Wednesday with a vote on the discussed laws, and to include the final list for the election of the president and four members of the new Commission for Deciding on Conflicts of Interest in the agenda, as the mandate of the old one expired on Sunday, February 11. One of the laws to be decided upon is the new agricultural land law, which returns the authority to manage state land to cities and municipalities, and the agency established for these tasks will cease to exist (9:30 AM, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6).
ZAGREB – Press conference of Member of Parliament Ivan Lovrinović (Change Croatia) on the topic “Stopping the Construction of the Asphalt Base and Preventing Its Commissioning” (11 AM, Ivan Kukuljević Hall, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6). Supporters of the initiative “Stop the Asphalt Base in Donja Lomnica” Stanko Uršić, Josipa Juričev Sudac, Jozo Ezgeta, and members of the initiative Suzana Deverić, Antonija Radoš Šimac, Krešimir Smolković, Mijo Jakunić, and Michael Stepanić will also speak at the conference.
ZAGREB – Press conference where the president of HNS Ivan Vrdoljak and Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak will present an online platform for public and fully transparent monitoring of the educational reform process at the Ministry of Science and Education (10 AM, HNS Central Office, Kneza Mislava 8).
OPATIJA – Two-day state expert meeting for directors of secondary vocational schools titled “The Role of Directors in Modernizing Vocational Education” (Hotel 4 Opatijska cvijeta). Eminent experts from the fields of economy and craftsmanship, experts from relevant state agencies, and directors of secondary vocational schools will address the directors.
PULA – IDS will mark the 28th anniversary of its founding and symbolically Valentine’s Day by distributing gift packages throughout Istrian cities. The president of IDS Boris Miletić and vice president Valter Flego will distribute gift packages at the market in Pula starting at 10:30 AM.
ZAGREB – Press conference of the civic initiative “Help Children with Disabilities” regarding the issue of resolving accommodation for users of the Center for Education and Upbringing “Vinko Bek” and its blind and visually impaired users (11:30 AM, in front of the Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy, Trg Nevenke Topalušić 1). Before that, members of this civic initiative will hold a meeting with the Minister of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy Nada Murganić at 10 AM regarding seeking solutions for the users of the “Vinko Bek” center.
ZAGREB – The union of workers of Croatia Airlines (ORCA) will meet with the Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković to express their concerns about the viability and business future of Croatia Airlines and indirectly about the viability and future of their jobs (2 PM, Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Prisavlje St. 14).
