Today in Croatia – Parliament discusses patents, trademarks, and designations of origin

We announce the most important events in Croatia for Tuesday, February 13, 2018.:

ZAGREB – The Croatian Parliament will continue its plenary session on Tuesday, instead of the usual Wednesday, to gain time and discuss the laws it planned to address last week. On Tuesday, it is expected to discuss legislative proposals to amend the laws on patents, trademarks, industrial design, geographical indications, and designations of origin for products and services (9:30 AM, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – The first Croatian Radio Forum will be held at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, under the high patronage of the President of the Croatian Parliament, Gordan Jandroković. It is organized by HUP – Coordination of Commercial Radio Stations and Media Service Global. The forum will be opened by Parliament President Jandroković, along with HUP President Gordana Deranja and the President of HUP – Coordination of Commercial Radio Stations, Director and Editor-in-Chief of Media Service Global Silvija Londero. In the working part of the program, Minister of Culture Nina Obuljen Koržinek will present amendments to the Electronic Media Act, while prominent politician Doris Pack will speak about media regulation and European experiences, and academician Jakša Barbić will provide recommendations for drafting good legislation (10 AM, atrium of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Nikola Šubić Zrinski Square 11).

RIJEKA – Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak will be on a working visit to the University of Rijeka. On the occasion of this visit, Divjak will hold a press conference at the Rectorate of the University at 12:30 PM (Golden Hall at the Rectorate of the University of Rijeka, Mažuranić Brothers Square 10. Media representatives should arrive by 12:15 PM. Camera operators and photo reporters will be allowed to film the last 10 minutes of the minister’s conversation with students in the Aula Magna, just before the press conference begins). Minister Divjak, along with State Secretaries Branka Ramljak and Tome Antičić, Assistant Minister Stipe Mamić, and Special Advisor for Public Relations Maro Alavanja, will be on a full-day working visit to the University of Rijeka, consisting of numerous activities. They will be hosted by Rector Snježana Prijić Samaržija and her associates, and this will also be Minister Divjak’s inaugural visit to the University of Rijeka. Divjak’s visit and her team’s first in a series of diverse activities planned throughout 2018 to mark the 45th anniversary of the University and the 385th year of higher education in Rijeka.

ZAGREB – Minister of Administration Lovro Kuščević and Director of the State Geodetic Administration Damir Šantek will present a new e-service in the e-Citizens system at a press conference at the State Geodetic Administration. The new e-service – Application for taking the professional exam for performing professional geodetic tasks and issuing a certificate of passing the professional exam was developed by the State Geodetic Administration in cooperation with the Ministry of Administration and the Financial Agency (12 PM, Gruška 20. Media representatives should arrive at the State Geodetic Administration by 11:45 AM).

ZAGREB – The SDP parliamentary club will hold a press conference in the Croatian Parliament on the topic: “All the dangers of the Proposal for the Law on Communal Economy.” The conference will feature speeches by parliamentary representatives, who are also mayors and heads of local government: Marko Vešligaj, Stjepan Kovač, Damir Mateljan, and Alen Prelec (12 PM, Ivan Kukuljević Hall, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – A conference titled “Single Digital Market – Challenges of Digital Transformation in the Business Sector” will be held organized by the European Commission’s representation in Croatia and the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK). The conference aims to raise awareness among the business community about the importance of using information and communication technologies in all segments of the economy and to exchange experiences regarding the introduction of digital technologies. The conference will also feature the Vice President of the European Commission responsible for the single digital market, Andrus Ansip, while HGK will present the results of a survey on digital business and expectations conducted among entrepreneurs (10:00 AM, Hotel Westin, Kršnjavoga 1).
