Đuro Đaković Montaža generated over 350 million kuna last year, expects a five percent growth in 2018

Đuro Đaković Montaža d.o.o. achieved revenues exceeding 350 million kuna last year, and this year expects stable business growth and a revenue increase of five percent, company leaders emphasized on Monday at a press conference.

Đuro Đaković Montaža was owned by the German group Bilfinger from 2009 to 2016, but since the end of 2016, it has been back in 100% Croatian ownership.

CEO Drago Čugura pointed out that the separation process did not have negative effects on cooperation with Bilfinger, but rather opened up space for unhindered collaboration with companies that are Bilfinger’s market competitors.

“In exports, we continue to generate 80 percent of our revenue in European markets. On average, we have 860 employees, which is slightly more than we planned two years ago,” said Čugura.

This company from Slavonski Brod is involved in projects for the construction of energy, petrochemical plants, and cement factories in 11 European countries, with the largest markets in recent years being Scandinavian countries and projects in the field of ‘green energy’.

In addition to investments from the energy sector, Đuro Đaković Montaža expects a significant increase in orders in the cement sector in EU countries due to regular maintenance and an increase in activity in the energy sector in Germany, which will also be the company’s focus in 2018.

“At this moment, we have filled capacities for 2018, which is good as we can focus on quality and deadlines,” said Management Board member Darko Katić.

Leaders of Đuro Đaković Montaža expect a slight increase from the domestic market this year, although they warn that instead of proving themselves through jobs in Croatia and obtaining references for abroad, they are already working in European markets, and for Croatia, they are evidently not good enough.

“Unfortunately, there is still a relatively small number of projects we are involved in within the Republic of Croatia due to the low level of investment in the country, but the biggest problem is created by domestic customers who undermine labor prices with their approach to business while the government publicly advocates for wage increases for workers. Despite this, Đuro Đaković Montaža will continue to invest in its workers and thus improve standards within the local community,” said Čugura.

The company announces investments in employee education amounting to 300 thousand euros this year, and to attract young metalworkers, after establishing good cooperation with high schools in Slavonski Brod, they plan to expand cooperation to schools in Nova Gradiška and Požega.

They also invite interested job seekers to contact them, as after education and training, they can obtain stable and well-paid jobs.

According to the presented data, the average gross salary in Đuro Đaković Montaža in 2017 was 10,280 kuna, and this does not include additional field allowances for most workers who work on foreign construction sites.
