The Eiffel Tower will reopen on Sunday morning after roads and public transport in the Paris region returned to normal following a week of snow and ice.
Aside from a brief opening on Thursday afternoon, the famous tourist attraction had been closed since Tuesday when 15 centimeters of snow fell in Paris, leading to street closures and a ban on heavy vehicles.

The French meteorological service announced on Saturday morning that they are ending their snow and ice warning. During the weekend, restrictions on heavy vehicle traffic were also lifted, allowing freight transport to resume.
On Friday evening, around 3600 trucks had to remain parked due to bans imposed because of icy conditions, the police reported. Most buses and regional RER trains that were not operating regularly during the week are now doing so again, announced the Paris public transport company RATP.
