New Mayor of Glina Spent 300 Times More on Travel than His Predecessor

Independent councilors and residents of Glina have complained about the absence of Mayor Stjepan Kostanjević. They have requested detailed information from the city administration regarding all of the mayor’s travels. They were shocked by the amounts as the costs of the alleged travels are 200 to 300 times higher than those of his predecessor, reports the team from Provjereno.

– Citizens often reach out to us. They say that the mayor is never in the city administration. And that they often see him in Petrinja, in Velika Gorica, where he spends time in betting shops during working hours, said Radomir Lončarević, the leader of the Independent List of the City of Glina.

The travel expenses of former mayor Bakšić for 2014 amounted to 1,200 kuna, and for 2015, 800 kuna. His deputy had travel expenses of 480 kuna for 2014, and 1,100 kuna for 2015. Comparing the travel expenses of previous mayors of Glina, Lončarević claims that the current travel expenses are much higher. For 2016, they amount to as much as 43,000 kuna.

– Based on travel orders and everything else, he paid himself a substantial amount of 43,000 kuna for 2016, revealed Mario Božurić, Independent List of the City of Glina.

They do not have information on where the mayor traveled and spent that money. A copy of all travel orders and the analytical card showing all travel data has not been provided.

– Those travel orders exist. It would not be worth it for him to spend 43,000 kuna, but it is very important what the purpose of that travel was, said Lončarević.

Mayor Stjepan Kostanjević believes that the costs of his travels are not high considering how much he travels.

– No one will go to Glina and ask what you need. You need to go from the ministry to other cities, explained the mayor of Glina, adding that 43,000 kuna is gross, while the net amount is just over 30,000.

The full daily allowance is 180 kuna, which means that the mayor was on the road almost every day in 2016.

– This does not only apply to daily allowances, but also to fuel costs. I have not done an analysis, but I think that half of it relates to fuel costs, says Kostanjević.

Things in Glina are not functioning as they should, as confirmed by the discontent of the residents of Glina. They claim that the city needs a nursing home, sports activity fields, and spatial planning, and given the absence of the mayor and the high costs of his travels, the realization of these projects will not come anytime soon.
