We announce the most important events from politics and the economy for Thursday, February 8:
ZAGREB – Continuation of the 7th session of the Croatian Parliament (9:30 AM, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6). The Croatian Parliament will discuss the Government’s proposal for a new law on communal economy that regulates issues important for the daily life of citizens, from the maintenance and construction of communal infrastructure, through the payment of communal contributions and fees to the maintenance of communal order. The new law regulates the principles on which the communal economy rests, types, organizational forms, performance and financing of communal activities, communal order, as well as communal contributions and fees as the most important sources of financing communal infrastructure. Given that the introduction of a property tax that would directly affect the communal fee as income for local self-government units has been abandoned, it was necessary to restore the communal fee, emphasizes the proposer.
ZAGREB – Session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia (10 AM, Banski dvori, St. Mark’s Square 2). On the agenda of the Government session is, among other things, the Proposal for amendments to the Law on Rental of Apartments prepared by the Ministry of Construction and Spatial Planning. They emphasize in the Ministry that a 20-year-old problem is being solved fairly, achieving a balance between the opposing interests of landlords and tenants, and fulfilling obligations from the dispute before the European Court of Human Rights. “Apartment owners (landlords) receive the exact day when they can fully freely dispose of their property, and until then, their protected rent is gradually increased, reducing the gap in relation to the market. Protected tenants retain the status of protected tenants for five years and after that, for another five years, receive state subsidies when paying market rent,” they emphasize in the Ministry of Construction and Spatial Planning.
SPLIT – Working meeting of the Minister of Environment and Energy Tomislav Ćorić and the Split-Dalmatia County Prefect Blaženko Boban on the topic “Possibility of JLS projects in the waste management system,” attended by mayors and heads of municipalities in the Split-Dalmatia County (2:15 PM, hall of the Split-Dalmatia County in Zenta; cameramen and photographers can capture the beginning of the meeting, and statements are scheduled for 3:35 PM). Minister Ćorić will then visit the Karepovac landfill and hold a working meeting with Deputy Mayor Nino Vela and councilors of the Split City Council (offices of the technical service ‘Čistoća’, Put Mostina 49). After the meeting at 5:15 PM, he will give statements to the media.
ZAGREB – Press conference and round table “What Family Policy Do We Want in the 21st Century” (10:45 AM, Croatian Parliament, Stjepan Radić Hall, St. Mark’s Square 6). At the press conference, the president of GLAS and the GLAS-HSU Club of Representatives Anka Mrak-Taritaš and the vice president of GLAS Diana Topčić-Rosenberg will speak. At the round table, Ivana Milas Klarić from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb, Diana Kolbas Dešković, founder and director of MAMAFORCE, and Paul Stubbs from the Economic Institute in Zagreb will speak.
ZAGREB – Press conference of the Independent Union of Science and Higher Education on the topic “Request for the Dismissal of the Temporary Administration at Croatian Studies” (11 AM, premises of the Trade Union House, 1st floor, Florijan Andrašec Street 18a). At the conference, among others, the president of the Union Igor Radeka, the president of the Grand Council Vilim Ribić, the union representative in the Senate of the University of Zagreb Vesnica Garašić, and the union representative at Croatian Studies Tomislav Janović will speak.
ZAGREB – Organized by the Public Health Institute (NZJZ) “Dr. Andrija Štampar” and the Croatian Pediatric Society, a round table “Vaccination Against Pneumococcus, Prevention for a Healthier Childhood” will be held (11:30 AM, large hall of NZJZ “Dr. Andrija Štampar”, Mirogojska cesta 16). “Parents often wonder whether it is necessary to vaccinate children with vaccines that are not part of the regular National Program, which vaccines are recommended as additional protection, and when is the best time to apply them,” are some of the questions that will be discussed at the round table.
