Ninčević Lesandrić: We Have a Fund for Disasters, Let Us Add Uhljebs Along with Earthquakes, Floods, and Fires

MP Ivana Ninčević Lesandrić from Most assessed on Thursday in the Parliament that the request from counties to establish a state fund for paying penalties due to unintentional shortcomings in the preparation and implementation of EU projects is “absurd.”

This week, the mayors sent conclusions to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković from the meeting of the Executive Board of the Croatian Association of Counties, requesting the establishment of a state fund from which penalties would be paid due to unintentional shortcomings in the preparation and implementation of agglomeration projects, large and important EU projects.

“It is not enough that taxpayers had to pay the salaries of all those people who do not know how to do their job nor have they made an effort to learn how to do it; now we will also collect funds for a state fund that will pay all these penalties we received due to idleness,” she said after a break she requested on behalf of the Most Club, calling such an idea “absurd.”

“For years, people who lack competencies and are not experts have been employed in development agencies, incubators, centers, and accelerators, and if they knew how to do their job, then out of 12.6 billion euros, one billion would not have been paid, which is a whole eight percent,” stated Ninčević Lesandrić.

She told the Prime Minister that he does not need to struggle with the establishment of a new state fund. “We already have a fund for natural disasters, so let us simply add uhljebs along with earthquakes, floods, and fires,” she said.
