The Cabin Crew Union (SKOZ) sent a letter on Monday to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Minister Oleg Butković requesting that a capable expert who can manage the state-interest airline Croatia Airlines (CA) and the workers without whom the company cannot operate and exist be appointed to lead CA.
SKOZ is asking Plenković and Butković to “immediately stop the spiral decline” of CA and select a new Management Board, headed by an expert who has not participated in the destruction of the company.

Every worker who sees their future within CA is deeply concerned by the fact that the Government has not wanted or been able to find an expert to manage the company for two years, while the staff responsible for the extremely damaged interpersonal relations retains positions or advances, as the company loses workers and market position, stagnates, or even regresses, the letter states.

The union claims that insurmountable differences between the Management and cabin crew result in a significant loss of personnel and constant needs for training new people.
To the same extent, experienced and young workers are turning their backs on cabin crew jobs, as evidenced by the fact that in December, 10 percent of mostly permanently employed cabin crew decided to switch to ground jobs.

In recent years, the number of long-term workers who have left CA has exceeded 30 percent of the permanently employed cabin crew, warns the union.
The main reason for the exodus of experienced workers is the inhumane working hours imposed on “flyers,” which largely hinder family life and increasingly result in a large number of serious health problems for such a small number of people, the letter states.
