Next year, Netflix plans to release 80 film titles, which is double the production of some major Hollywood studios. This year, they released around 40 films, and it is also interesting to note that the planned spending for original content next year amounts to between 7 and 8 billion dollars for television series and films. According to the portal The Street, this year Netflix allocated about 6 billion dollars, which is more than any other individual operator, except for the largest component of Walt Disney, ESPN.

It is also news that Netflix will no longer license films from Disney’s Lucas Film and Marvel, and Scripps Interactive Networks announced at the beginning of the year that they would not renew their licensing agreement with Netflix.
However, the 80 films they plan to release is a fascinating number, especially considering that Time Warner released 36 films in 2016, and Sony Pictures 27, as well as Lions Gate Entertainment. Netflix stated that they need more original content to maintain and grow their business.
