The first half of 2017 was marked by unfavorable hydrological conditions, resulting in a 32 percent decrease in electricity production in hydroelectric plants compared to the same period last year. Due to increased electricity supply in the domestic market, HEP, led by Perica Jukić, was therefore forced to import 20 percent more electricity from foreign markets than in the same period last year, the company reports.

Considering that last year we imported 35.9 percent of total energy needs, this year electricity consumption from imports could exceed consumption from domestic production, which no longer meets even half of domestic needs. In 2017, the costs of electricity procurement increased by nearly 250 million kuna compared to 2016.
