Božinović: There is no doubt that everything related to the extradition of Todorić is done in accordance with the law

Interior Minister Davor Božinović stated on Saturday regarding the Agrokor case and the possible issuance of an arrest warrant and extradition of Ivica Todorić, that there is international and European practice on this matter which is very clear, emphasizing that everything is done in accordance with domestic and European legislation.

“Everything that is done is done in accordance with domestic and European legislation. There is no doubt about that,” Minister Božinović told reporters after marking the Day Without Mobile Phones in traffic, when asked if there is a problem with the extradition of Ivica Todorić, who is reportedly in London.

He reminded that there is international and European practice on this issue which is very clear.

In response to journalists’ inquiries about the whereabouts of Ivica Todorić, Božinović did not provide further details, briefly stating that he cannot speak about it. Minister Božinović also did not want to specify on the question related to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Ivica Todorić, emphasizing that this is the job of the police, which, he added, has been cooperating very effectively with the State Attorney’s Office of the Republic of Croatia and judicial bodies from the very beginning, and through international police cooperation, with the police of other countries.

“The Croatian police are doing their job very effectively and have been in this work together with other competent institutions from the beginning. It is coordinated by the State Attorney’s Office of the Republic of Croatia and the police will continue to do their job at a high professional level,” he said.

He noted that police investigations in the Agrokor case are being conducted in accordance with the law, adding that “these are facts that cannot be publicly discussed.”

Ivica Todorić, the only one of all 15 suspects in the Agrokor case, has been placed in investigative detention, and he is not yet available to the Croatian judiciary, so it is possible that an arrest warrant will be issued for him. He is charged, among other things, with acquiring improper property benefits in the total amount of about one billion and 463 million kuna.

In addition to Ivica Todorić, his son Ivan Todorić, who is also among the suspects, has not yet arrived in Croatia, while the other son Ante Todorić traveled from London to Zagreb and presented his defense to the State Attorney’s Office yesterday.

Along with Todorić and his sons, the suspects in the Agrokor case include Alojzije Pandžić, Damir Kuštrak, Hrvoje Balent, Ivica Crnjac, Olivio Discordia, Marijan Alagušić, Sanja Hrstić, Mislav Galić, Tomislav Lučić, Piruška Canjuga, Ljerka Puljić, and Ivica Sertić. All were members of the management or supervisory board at Agrokor, while Discordia and Hrstić are employees of the auditing firm Baker Tilly, which prepared audit reports for Agrokor.

All suspects are charged with multiple criminal offenses against the economy and forgery offenses, specifically for abuses in business operations, forgery of documents, and illegal bookkeeping.
