Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandić announced on Friday that he will introduce a ZET ticket priced between four and 12 kuna, allowing citizens who travel three or four stations to pay four kuna, those who travel 10 or 12 stations to pay six or eight kuna, and those who travel for two hours to pay 10 or 12 kuna.
Regarding parking fees, he emphasized that he will not abandon the proposal to introduce parking uniformly across the city without raising parking prices, ensuring that we do not have citizens of the first, second, and third class.
– We are working on finding the optimal way to convert two hours of travel into prices that do not hit our citizens in the pocket. And I believe that we will reach that in the next two weeks, Bandić stated in response to the question of when ZET tickets priced at six or seven kuna will be introduced and whether Zagreb residents will bear ZET’s deficit of 20 million kuna.

He reminded that they introduced a ZET ticket for four kuna for half an hour of travel and announced that for two reasons they must “introduce a ticket between four and 12 kuna”.
– Because half an hour is a short period, not only due to 18 million kuna less in ZET, which we subsidize with 400 or 500 million kuna, and we will all together pay those 18, 19 million kuna, but also to distribute that burden as evenly as possible and to enable citizens who travel three or four stations to pay four kuna, those who travel 10 or 12 stations from Črnomerec to Dubrava to pay six or eight kuna, and those who travel for two hours to pay 10 or 12 kuna, Bandić explained.
And when they, as he said, “mix it up,” they will inform the public about what they have done. “In any case, we will not hit our citizens in the pocket,” the mayor promised.
As for parking fees, he emphasized that he will not abandon the proposal to introduce parking uniformly across the city without raising parking prices.
– Those who have garages have invested and paid for them over the next 30 or 40 years. Those who do not have garages and park in public city spaces will pay for parking. Whether they will pay monthly five, 10, 15 kuna, or 25, as is currently the case in the third zone, that is now the question, but we will proceed with introducing parking on all public areas, adjusting the prices by zones to be acceptable for citizens, with privileged prices. Otherwise, we now have citizens of the first, second, and third class. That proposal will be ready in about a month, Bandić stated.
When asked about small streets in Zagreb, where there are formally no parking spaces, whether parking will also be charged there, Bandić said that parking will only be charged where there is public space and streets owned by the city of Zagreb.

– This is not a tax or a hit on the pockets of our citizens, but to create order so that the spaces we maintain cover the costs of that maintenance and that everyone is satisfied, and ultimately that everyone is treated equally, Bandić emphasized and announced that details about this will be known in two to four weeks.
Bandić also stated that he has ordered the introduction of central payment and control of ticket payments in Zagreb garages and that the payment and control of tickets in ZET will be improved. He announced that he would go public with this in two to four weeks.
Bandić responded to journalists’ questions at the Zagreb Fair after the opening of the Healthy Living Fair and the Day of Hunting and Fishing.
