We announce the most important events in Croatia for Thursday, October 19.

ZAGREB – The Croatian Parliament will discuss the final proposal of the Law on the Homeland Security System, the establishment of which is a strategic goal defined by the recently adopted National Security Strategy. The final proposal of the law defines the homeland security system consisting of resources from the Ministry of the Interior, Defense, the security-intelligence system, health, civil protection, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the economy, and other bodies that organized and coordinated perform tasks of identifying, assessing, reducing, and/or eliminating security risks significant to the national security of Croatia (9:30 AM, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – A ceremonial signing of the public procurement contract for mammography devices with digital tomosynthesis and stereotactic biopsy for six Croatian hospitals where the most mammographic examinations and the most sophisticated breast diagnostics are performed – KBC Zagreb, KBC Rijeka, KBC Split, KBC Osijek, KBC Sestre milosrdnice, and KB Dubrava (9:30 AM, Ministry of Health, Ksaver 200a).

ŠIBENIK – The Minister for Demography, Family, Youth, and Social Policy, Nada Murganić, will be on an official visit to Šibenik, during which she will meet with Mayor Željko Burić (11 AM, premises of the City of Šibenik, Square of Fallen Defenders of the Homeland War 1). Statements for the media are scheduled at the beginning of the meeting, which will be closed to the public.

ZAGREB – On the occasion of amendments to the Health Care Act, the Independent Union of Health and Social Care of Croatia (SSZSSH) and the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) are organizing a press conference from which they will, as announced, send a message against the privatization of health care. The topic will be discussed by Stjepan Topolnjak, president of SSZSSH, and Mladen Novosel, president of SSSH (10 AM, Workers’ Home, King P. Krešimir IV Square No. 2, Hall 427 (4th floor).

Economy:

ROVINJ – The conference “Challenge of Change,” organized by the Zagreb Stock Exchange and the Association of Pension Fund Management Companies and Pension Insurance Companies, will gather representatives of the financial community in Croatia and the region as well as representatives of state administration bodies and companies. The conference, which runs until October 20 and will gather around 400 participants, will address global and European economic and market trends and, in this context, trends in Croatia, both in the capital market and in asset management of funds. According to the organizers’ announcements, the opening address will be given by the president of the Management Board of the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency, Petar-Pierre Matek, and the governor of the Croatian National Bank, Boris Vujčić (9:30 AM, Hotel Lone).

ZAGREB – The Croatian Banking Association (HUB) will present the results of a recently conducted survey on the awareness and activities of citizens that they (do not) undertake to increase their own security on the internet and mobile phones at a press conference on the occasion of the “European Cybersecurity Month” (10:00 AM, HUB Great Hall, Nova Ves 17).

ZAGREB – The 15th jubilee International Innovation Exhibition ARCA 2017 and the 9th International Fair of Innovations in Agriculture, Food Industry, and Agricultural Mechanization traditionally represent a cross-section of both Croatian and global trends in creating new innovative products, services, and technologies. The organizer of the innovation exhibition and the fair of innovations in agriculture, which will be held from October 19 to 21, is the Association of Innovators of Croatia in cooperation with partners the International Federation of National Inventors’ Associations IFIA, the University of Zagreb, the Croatian Community of Technical Culture, and the National and University Library (11:00 AM, National and University Library in Zagreb, Croatian Brotherhood Community 4).

BIOGRAD – The Croatian Chamber of Economy is organizing the Nautical Days for the first time, a congress program aimed at entrepreneurs from the nautical tourism sector, which will take place on October 19 and 20 in Biograd, as part of the 19th Biograd Boat Show. The goal of the 1st HGK Nautical Days is to utilize the significant representation of the nautical sector in one place towards the end of the nautical season to educate, communicate, and gather information on key issues affecting maritime affairs and nautical tourism (11:00 AM, Marina Kornati).

ZAGREB – Leaders of the company dm will present dm’s business results in Croatia for the business year 2016/2017 at a press conference.
