dm confirmed its leading position in the market

Members of the dm Management Board presented business results that confirmed dm’s leading position in the drugstore products market. In the business year 2016/2017, dm achieved a turnover of 2.1 billion kuna in Croatia, representing a growth of 5.4% compared to the previous business year. dm invested over 74 million kuna in the modernization of 37 stores, a new logistics center, and the opening of two specialized departments for over-the-counter (OTC) medical products.

– The past business year at dm was marked by a higher number of customers who purchased more. During the past business year, dm stores were visited by more than 86,400 customers every day, with an average purchase amounting to 76.38 kuna. We also achieved a sales growth in the OTC product segment of 27.93%, emphasized Mirko Mrakužić, director of dm.

An important role in positioning dm in the market is played by the dm brand, which achieved a 29.41% share of total turnover in the past business year. The dm private label has introduced a new brand of decorative cosmetics, trend IT UP, and the dmBio range has been expanded with over 100 new organic products.

– The dmBio brand achieved a sales growth of 66.8%, indicating an increase in demand for organic products. Sales of organic food at dm increased by 4.41% in the past business year, while sales of organic food products from Croatian producers grew by 7.44%, highlighted Gordana Picek, head of Procurement, Marketing, and PR, as well as Sales Region at dm.

Today, dm is the store where customers most frequently and prefer to buy personal care and hygiene products, household care products, and cosmetic products, and it has become the store where citizens most often purchase organic food products.

An Ipsos survey confirmed that dm stands out the most in employee care compared to its competitors – as many as 75% of respondents believe that dm cares the most about its employees. With an average net salary in stores exceeding 9,000 kuna, dm organized 137 training sessions in the past business year and developed the dm academy project.

– The long-term goal of the dm academy is to enable all employees in stores in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Macedonia to receive education for the profession of druggist. After training, employees will be better equipped to meet today’s customer needs, and thanks to new knowledge in botany, chemistry, pharmacology, nutrition, and economics, they will be able to provide even better service and expert advice to customers, stated Ana Fostač-Krilčić, head of Human Resources and Sales Region.

Today, dm operates in 157 stores and employs 1,399 employees in 60 cities. In the business year 2017/2018, dm will invest 90 million kuna in the modernization of stores and the development of the product range.
