Finance Minister Zdravko Marić, ahead of the Government meeting on Wednesday morning, did not wish to comment on the arrests of Agrokor’s management members, but again dismissed accusations that he was aware of the situation in Agrokor.
“I would not comment on the processes. I have worked with these people and I know them. I also know from my own experience that this is not simple. I hope they will have the strength to overcome everything,” said Minister Marić about his former colleagues for whom he feels sympathy due to the constant accusations regarding his position in Agrokor.

He again rejected accusations of covering up the situation in Agrokor, but also pointed out that too little attention is paid in public to his ministerial work and achievements.
“From day one, I have been very aware of my responsibilities and role as Minister of Finance. We have already gone through a vote of confidence in the Parliament. At that time, I defended both myself and the function of minister honorably and with dignity. The accusations were unfounded. I believe that what I should be evaluated on are the results, not what I did somewhere else. I have explained my role in Agrokor many times. The very realization and thought that I am a burden to the government is unpleasant. On the other hand, I am being imputed with things that are not true, and my past, which is not questionable at all, is being scrutinized. I do not see what the problem is. I think I should be judged based on what I do as a minister,” Marić said for N1.
