Changes to the Education Act will propose that teachers and educators who draw funds from European funds be rewarded with a salary increase or a reduction in workload, announced Minister of Education Blaženka Divjak on Wednesday.
This initiative, she assessed, is a step towards rewarding excellence and it stops equalization in schools.

– The changes to the Education Act propose that those teachers and educators who draw funds from European funds be rewarded, and that they have the right to a salary increase or a reduction in workload. In this sense, I believe that this initiative is in line with what we have been announcing all along and I hope it will receive support in the public discussion, Divjak told reporters ahead of the Government session.
The increase, she added, will depend on which part of the working time is engaged in the project, and as Hina unofficially learns, it could amount to 30 percent.

Part of the changes to the law will also relate to the conclusion of grades at the midterm, but, as the minister noted, the public discussion has not yet been opened due to the changed procedure for putting the law into public discussion, so it is “likely that the law will not come in time to affect changes for this school year.”
