The city of Bjelovar wants to become the first ‘tax free’ city in Croatia by exempting entrepreneurs who wish to invest in the area from city levies, regardless of whether they are domestic or foreign, stated Bjelovar Mayor Dario Hrebak on Wednesday during the presentation of the program providing operational support to investors.

– We are aware that in this way we initially lose certain funds in the city budget, but we believe that this will be corrected over time due to increased employment. Since we cannot attract some large investments to Bjelovar, it would be sufficient for 20 small entrepreneurs to employ ten people each, said Hrebak.
Measure 1-1-1
The Deputy Mayor responsible for the economy, Igor Brajdić, presented the informally named ‘1-1-1’ measure, which would reduce all levies for entrepreneurs intending to invest within the administrative boundaries of the city to one kuna starting next year.
