The luxurious hotel complex Skiper Resort in Istria has become part of Istrian Hotels, a subsidiary of the Serbian holding company MK Group, based on a contract for the sale of a 100% stake in all companies of the Skiper group signed with the Austrian companies HETA and HETA Beteiligungen.
Skiper Resort has been part of Istrian Hotels since Monday, MK Group announced on Tuesday, without disclosing the value of the transaction.
In the announcement, they also emphasize that this group is a “leader in the fields of tourism, agriculture, and banking,” that they are a “serious investor with a portfolio of seven four and five-star hotels,” and that the Istrian complex Skiper Resort has thus gained a secure investor.

Istrian Hotels is a member of MK Group, which has in its portfolio the Grand Hotel & Spa and Angella Hotel & Residence – Konaci Sunčevi vrhovi in Kopaonik, 88 Rooms Hotel in Belgrade, and Hotel Kempinski Palace in Portorož.

“Istrian Hotels submitted the best offer in the international tender for the purchase of this luxurious Istrian complex, allowing MK Group to continue investing in the region and its infrastructure with the aim of further popularizing the region in the interest of Istrian tourism and all investors in the region,” MK Group stated, whose president is Belgrade entrepreneur Miodrag Kostić.
An Important Step Towards a Regional Hotel Company
By acquiring the Istrian Skiper Resort, which includes the five-star Kempinski Adriatic hotel, MK Group announces that it will further elevate the level of hotel and catering services.
“We believe that this is an important step towards achieving our goals of creating a strong regional hotel company that will connect businesses in the most attractive locations and complement each other with existing links in the system,” said Nikola Avram, director of the hotel group operating within the MK system, in the announcement.

MK Group is also a minority owner of the Budvanska Rivijera Hotel group in Montenegro and holds 30% of shares in Aerodrom Portorož. After successful cooperation with the Kempinski hotel chain, the Group recently established cooperation with the Sheraton hotel chain, a member of the Starwood group, with plans to open the first Sheraton hotel in Serbia in January 2018.
The companies of the Skiper Group own and manage accommodation and tourist capacities in Savudrija, Istria, including, among others, a luxury hotel, unfurnished luxury villas and apartments, and furnished apartments of medium and higher class.
The Skiper Resort also includes the Kempinski residence, which offers 22 luxury villas and one of the few golf courses in Croatia with 18 holes and other amenities.
