Tolušić on Arrests in Agrokor: The Government Will Resolve the ‘Hot Potato’ and Bring the Economy to ‘Normal’

Agriculture Minister Tomislav Tolušić stated on Monday that in the case of Agrokor, everyone is doing their part, including the police and the State Attorney’s Office, and that if someone is guilty, they will be held accountable, but this will be determined by the investigation and initiated inquiries.

When asked by reporters whether he and his predecessors, former agriculture ministers, could have known what was happening in Agrokor given the large sums of budget money that were allocated to the conglomerate for production, Tolušić said that “when it comes to former ministers, it is astonishing day by day the hindsight of those who have something to say about the Agrokor case.”

This Government is the least entangled in the Agrokor story, and the vast majority of relevant ministers had no connection to it. Some did, but something did not happen in Agrokor in the last six months or a year, but in the last 15 to 20 years, Tolušić said during a visit to the Agricultural Faculty in Osijek.

– And now all those who knew about it, approved HBOR loans, four to five years ago, like Gordan Maras, have come to hindsight and are surprised that something is wrong, Tolušić emphasizes. It was known that something was wrong with Agrokor in previous years, “but no one took any action until this Government.”
