Arrests in the Agrokor Affair: Breaking News in BiH

The action of the Croatian police and DORH as part of the investigation into the Agrokor affair on Monday is the most important foreign policy news for the media in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which generally conclude that this is a process that was expected and that should answer numerous questions raised after the collapse of Ivica Todorić’s business empire.

The public radio-television service BHRT reported that the police are searching around sixty locations connected to Todorić, his family, and associates, while simultaneously quoting Todorić’s comments that this is a political process.

Most portals have placed this news in prominent positions, and many provide clarification that the investigation aims to determine under what circumstances Agrokor’s financial statements were falsified and who is personally responsible for it.

There were no special comments on the police action in Croatia in the first hours, and public interest in BiH has so far been mainly focused on the possible impact of the crisis on Konzum’s operations in that country.

The previously announced plan for the temporary management of Agrokor, under which Konzum in BiH will be stabilized through recapitalization and the return of Mercator to that market, is being successfully implemented.
