We announce the most important events in Croatia for Friday, October 13:
ZAGREB – The Croatian Parliament continues its session with a discussion on the annual report on the work of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Activities (HAKOM) for 2016, after which the representatives are expected to vote on the points discussed so far (9:30 AM, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6).
ZAGREB – Newly elected judges of the Constitutional Court will take an oath before the President of the Republic Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović (3:30 PM, Office of the President of the Republic, Pantovčak 241). A ceremonial address by the President of the Republic is planned.
ZAGREB – Representatives of the civic initiative “ProLife.hr” and the Vigilare Foundation will submit 168,561 signatures of citizens to the Croatian Parliament who, through the national petition “I have the right to live” during March and April of this year, requested that the announced amendments to the so-called Abortion Act go in the direction of protecting unborn life and providing greater assistance to pregnant women (11 AM, Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6). A brief gathering will precede the submission of signatures at St. Mark’s Square, where the president of the Vigilare Foundation Dr. Vice Batarelo, the president of the Croatian Movement for Life and Family Katarina Kovačević, the president of the association Voice of Parents for Children (GROZD) Kristina Pavlović, the head of the Department for Motherhood and Family at the Vigilare Foundation Ivana Foretić, psychiatrist Herman Vukušić, and student chaplain Don Damir Stojić, SDB will address the attendees.
MAKARSKA – Regular reporting and electoral Assembly of HVIDR of the Republic of Croatia. The agenda of the 17th regular reporting and electoral Assembly will include, among other things, the proposal of the Operational and Financial Plan for 2018, the election of new members of the HVDR bodies of the Republic of Croatia, and a panel where a report on the conducted procedure and the adoption of the Draft Proposal of the Law on Croatian Veterans of the Homeland War and their family members will be presented (8 PM, Asphalatos Hall of Hotel Meteor, King Petar Krešimir IV Street 19).
PULA – Official opening of SENSE – Center for Transitional Justice (CTP). At the opening of the Center, attendees will be addressed by Serge Brammertz, Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT), Helen Walasek, an expert in the field of cultural heritage protection, Mirko Klarin, Director of SENSE – Center for Transitional Justice, and Vesna Teršelič, head of Documenta – Center for Dealing with the Past. Along with representatives of local authorities from the City of Pula, Istria County, human rights activists from Croatia and the region, the opening of the Center will also be attended by Snežana Stanojković, prosecutor for war crimes of Serbia and her assistant Jelena Vladisavljev, acting chief prosecutor of BiH Gordana Tadić, BiH prosecutors from the Special Department for War Crimes Izet Odobašić and Stanko Blagić, as well as deputies of the Chief State Attorney of the Republic of Croatia Jasmina Dolmagić and Darko Klier. The SENSE center is the ‘successor’ of the SENSE Agency, which has regularly and comprehensively reported on the proceedings conducted at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) over the past twenty years (7:30 PM, Dante Square 3, 1st floor).
