On the occasion of enrolling the third generation of participants in Mini MBA – Executive leadership program and the first generation of participants in Mini MBA – Management skills program organized by Mirakul Educational Center, we asked Dr. Jasminka Samardžija where the idea for launching such programs originated, what the most valuable experience of attending such programs is, and what she would advise participants who are considering enrollment.

>>>The devastating thunder of the online market has struck H&M

You are a successful businesswoman. You work as a professor at RIT – Croatia, you are the author of the book ‘Interviews with 100 Croatian Leaders on Life and Career Development’, and the director of the company Motivational Speaker. In addition, you have a long-standing collaboration with Mirakul Educational Center. How do you manage all of this?

– I am organized and flexible, I enjoy working in a good team and motivating people, showing them that there is a goal that will challenge all their qualities so that motivation remains persistent. After years of working in education, I concluded that people love practical and concrete examples. They want to know how others respond to today’s challenges that require individuals to react quickly to meet the needs of achieving strategic goals. I would say that defining priorities, and then knowing oneself and one’s capabilities, strengths, and potential areas for development is crucial. Only when you know yourself well can you start working on yourself and then build your team. This is how the transfer of key values begins in both directions from leaders to employees and clients and vice versa. The market is a dynamic category, and my team from Mirakul knows this very well.

You are the head of two Mini MBA programs at Mirakul Educational Center. Where did the idea for launching such programs come from?

– By conducting interviews with 100 Croatian leaders, I gained concrete insight into the daily work and competencies of people in leading positions in Croatian companies, and this served as a basis for creating a practical program that our clients recognized. The first program, MINI MBA – Management skills, expands the overall managerial perspective, enhances the reading and interpretation of financial reports so that they can be better analytically connected to business concepts. On the other hand, it improves personal self-presentation style and the body language that should accompany it. In the final module, the focus is on the interpersonal skills of an effective manager, and this module brings together all soft skills in one place with a special emphasis on stress management. Given that our clients have shown great interest in three-day programs, we are also starting with an HR refreshment course in December, and in the new 2018 year, we are preparing the MINI MBA – premium management skills.

3. The Mini MBA – Executive leadership is the first Mini MBA program you launched with Mirakul Educational Center, and this year you are enrolling the third generation of participants. What do you consider the most valuable experience of attending the program?

– Practical examples, a sense of community, and networking. After three joint modules, our participants and lecturers get to know each other very well. The MINI MBA – Executive leadership represents an upgrade of MINI MBA – Management skills, and within the modules, lecturers demonstrate through practical examples from their organizations such as Coca-Cola, EBRD, Heidelberg Cement Group, HF Belišća, Dalekovod, and Posta how they developed these competencies and later transferred them to their teams.
