We announce the most important events in Croatia for Friday, October 6:

ZAGREB – Continuation of the session of the Croatian Parliament (9:30 AM, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak will participate in the ceremonial promotion of educators, teachers, and professional associates to the rank of mentor and advisor. A total of 615 educational workers from preschool institutions, primary and secondary schools, student dormitories, music and dance schools will be promoted to the rank of mentor and advisor (11 AM, National and University Library, Croatian Brotherhood Community 4).

ŠIBENIK – An introductory conference for the event “Days of Regional Development and EU Funds” will be held organized by the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds. Alongside Minister Gabrijela Žalac, opening speeches will be given by the Šibenik-Knin County Prefect Goran Pauk, Head of the European Commission Representation in Croatia Branko Baričević, and the Mayor of the City of Šibenik Željko Burić. At the conference, a Cooperation Agreement with regional coordinators worth a total of 21 million kuna will be ceremonially signed, while the relevant ministers will present current financing opportunities from EU funds (10 AM, Šibenik Convention Center, Solaris Resort).

ZAGREB – On the occasion of the celebration of World Day for Decent Work, October 7, the Metalworkers’ Union of Croatia – Industrial Union (SMH-IS), affiliated with the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH), is organizing a press conference on the topic “Where Has Decent Work Gone in the Metal Industry,” considering that in this sector, a 40-hour work week, fixed-term contracts, and redistribution of working hours are the rules, not exceptions, while the salary for full-time workers is insufficient even to cover personal needs for half a month. Vedran Dragičević, President of SMH-IS, and his assistant Vesna Mlinarić will speak on this topic (9:30 AM, Workers’ Home, King P. Krešimir IV Square No. 2, Hall 427).

ZAGREB – The organizing committee for initiating a referendum on the election of representatives to the Croatian Parliament will hold a press conference where committee members, including Anto Đapić, will explain the reasons for their initiative (12 PM, “Panorama” Hotel, Krešimir Ćosić Square 9).

ZAGREB – The fifth edition of the Croatia Waste Expo conference, a professional-business event organized by Poslovni dnevnik dedicated to the waste management and wastewater business, begins. This year’s conference will be opened by Vladimir Nišević, Editor-in-Chief of Poslovni dnevnik, and Mile Horvat, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment and Energy of the Republic of Croatia, followed by presentations and panel discussions (10 AM, Small Hall of Vatroslav Lisinski, Stjepan Radić Square 4).

Economy:

RABAC – This year’s 22nd meeting of fishermen of the Croatian Chamber of Trades and Crafts (HOK) is being held in Rabac, and during the two-day gathering, participants will discuss numerous topics related to fishing activities. In addition to discussions on the current state and development prospects of Croatian fisheries, topics such as the Operational Program for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Croatia for the programming period 2014 – 2020, the new law on marine fisheries and inspection oversight in fisheries, regulation of fishing in the Jabuka Basin, and the state of mariculture in Croatia, with an emphasis on shellfish farming, will be discussed (the organizers announce a press conference at 12:30 PM, Valamar Bellevue Hotel).

ZAGREB – In the first half of this year, Zagreb’s public transport transported 149.7 million passengers, which is 0.9 percent more than in the same period last year, and at the end of June, the public transport had 3,727 employees, which is an annual increase of 1.4 percent, according to data from the Statistics Department of the City Office for Strategic Planning and Development.
