Prime Minister and HDZ President Andrej Plenković informed journalists on Tuesday afternoon that the National Council of the HDZ decided in a telephone session to disband the county organization of the Požega-Slavonia HDZ, following the announcement of information regarding domestic violence involving County Prefect Alojz Tomašević.
Plenković stated this to reporters before the start of the HDZ Parliamentary Club meeting, where the party leadership is preparing for a parliamentary session scheduled for tomorrow morning.
If the information about the violence proves to be accurate, Plenković says he sees no way for the prefect to remain in the position he was elected to a few months ago.

In response to a journalist’s note that the prefect was directly elected, Plenković said that this is not a matter of statutes and procedures, but a matter of morality.
“We decided today in the telephone session of the National Council of the HDZ to disband the county organization, as we want a new beginning there since this is a county where the HDZ has mayors of five municipalities, mayors of five cities, a prefect, and a majority in the county assembly, which is somewhat of an absurd situation,” said Plenković.
