At the end of August, 26,464 companies were blocked with a debt of 15.51 billion kuna

At the end of August this year, 26,464 business entities had blocked accounts with 15.51 billion kuna in unpaid payment obligations, and 320,165 citizens were also blocked with debts amounting to 42.26 billion kuna, according to data released on Monday by the Financial Agency (Fina).

The number of citizens with blocked accounts has decreased both on a monthly and annual basis, but at the same time, there is an increase in the amount of their debt.

Thus, at the end of August, 2,955 citizens had blocked accounts, which is 0.9 percent less than at the end of July, but their debts simultaneously increased by about 40 million kuna or by 0.1 percent.

On an annual basis, compared to August of last year, the number of citizens with blocked accounts is lower by 5,485 or 1.7 percent, but the amount of their debt has increased by 2.06 billion kuna or by 5.1 percent.

In the case of companies, or business entities, a decrease in the number of blocked entities is recorded on both a monthly and annual basis, while the amount of unpaid payment obligations shows an increase on a monthly basis and a decrease on an annual basis.

Compared to July, at the end of August, there were 210 or 0.8 percent fewer blocked companies, but their total unpaid debts increased by 0.2 percent, or by about 37.8 million kuna.

On an annual basis, compared to August 2016, the number of blocked business entities in the eighth month of this year was 4,651 or 14.9 percent less, and the amount of their unpaid obligations decreased by 3.47 billion kuna, or by 18.3 percent.

Fina’s data for the eighth month of this year shows that among the blocked business entities, those in long-term blockage, longer than 360 days, still dominate.

At the end of August, there were 18,091 such companies, which is a share of 68.4 percent of the total number of companies with blocked accounts. These business entities account for 80.8 percent of the total debt, or more than 12.5 billion kuna.

The number of insolvent business entities in blockage longer than 360 days has decreased by 0.3 percent compared to July, but the amount of their unpaid payment obligations has increased by 0.2 percent.

Fina’s data also shows that more than 60 percent of business entities, or 16,443, relate to business entities without employees, and the debts of such companies account for 64.2 percent of the total amount of unpaid payment obligations or 9.96 billion kuna.

Of the total 26,464 blocked business entities, just over a third (37.7 percent) are legal entities, and they account for the largest part, 62.4 percent of the total amount of unpaid payment obligations. At the end of August, there were 9,965 legal entities in blockage, with 11,646 employees and debts of 9.68 billion kuna.

At the same time, the accounts of 16,499 individuals, or craftsmen, were also blocked, with 8,729 employees, and their unpaid obligations amounted to 5.83 billion kuna.
