Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Saturday responded to accusations that people have been appointed to the management of public companies based on party affiliation, stating that it is essential for all public enterprises in Croatia to achieve quality results and that those who do not will not remain in those positions.

“We have new regulations, we had public tenders, interviews, we had all the qualifications for the job entrusted to those who were selected. It is important that all public enterprises in Croatia achieve quality results; those who do not will not be in those positions,” said the Prime Minister in response to journalists’ questions at Jarun during the Police Day celebration.
The Prime Minister’s statement followed media reports that the government proposed to the supervisory boards and assemblies of several state companies to appoint directors, presidents, and members of supervisory boards. In as many as 14 state companies, out of a total of 29 applicants who passed public tenders, nine are members of HDZ, and three employees, according to media reports, are from their coalition partner HNS.
