Tomašić will be the main representative of the third largest group in the EP, in a committee that deals with issues important for Croatia – better utilization of EU funds, quality decentralization, cohesion policy, and the preservation of local communities and their economic progress.

As stated in a press release from her office, Tomašić emphasized that the new position is an opportunity to incorporate Croatian interests into the group’s priorities.

– I myself live in a small place on the island of Korčula and I know what the fate of such communities is, especially if they are also traffic isolated. Tourism saves us by the sea, while the situation is even worse in continental Croatia. This is a great opportunity for me as the main coordinator of the ECR to embed Croatian interests into the priorities of the entire group, Tomašić said.
