The Day of Great Plans Has Begun: Over 400 Participants Follow the Leaders of Politics and Economy

The ninth international conference Day of Great Plans organized by Lider has just begun, gathering over 400 participants, leaders from the economic and political spheres, at the Westin hotel in Zagreb. Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to hear firsthand what the people shaping economic policy in Croatia plan for the next year and prepare their companies for business in 2018 based on their announcements.

The conference is opened by Boris Vujčić, the governor of HNB, who will speak about productivity and exports, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković will present the government’s economic policy for 2018, and President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović will discuss measures for attracting investments and promoting exports.

Ministers Martina Dalić, Zdravko Marić, and Gabrijela Žalac are also present at the conference.

Dario Scannapieco, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, will present global and regional trends, while Siniša Topalović, Director of Horwath HTL, will address the challenges of the competitiveness of Croatian tourism. In the second part of the conference, at two round tables, leaders of the strongest Croatian companies from various industries will present their forecasts – opportunities and dangers awaiting their sectors and the economy in the coming year.

Deranja: Current Growth Must Not Be an Excuse for the Status Quo

Gordana Deranja, President of HUP, addressed government representatives in her opening speech, emphasizing that despite positive macroeconomic trends and the fact that it is “easier to breathe” in Croatia today, the current growth must not be an excuse and alibi for maintaining the existing state.

– Entrepreneurs are doing everything they can to grow, and how far we can go depends not only on us but also on the government. We are waiting for the government’s plan for next year because it will determine whether 2018 will be a year of positive turns or again a year of missed opportunities – stated Deranja, referring to the still existing problems – parafiscal burdens that “oppress” entrepreneurs, bureaucracy, and ineffective public administration.
