Ministers of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković and State Property Goran Marić stated on Tuesday that the Government has no reason to fear Ivica Todorić’s blog, emphasizing that the adoption of the so-called lex Agrokor was the right move that saved numerous jobs.
When asked by journalists if they read Ivica Todorić’s blog, Minister Marić replied that he does not have time, while Butković said he does not read the blog but other portals that cover it.

When asked if the Government should fear the information coming out in that blog, Butković said he believes it should not.
“You know that lex Agrokor has been adopted, that with such a move jobs were saved and a conglomerate was preserved at the most difficult moment, that is, just before and during the tourist season. In that sense, I believe the Government made the right move, while I do not wish to comment on the rest,” said Butković.
Marić shares a similar opinion, warning that in the event of Agrokor’s bankruptcy, everyone would lose, from workers to the state.
“I think no one has reason to fear, and what I can say is that the Agrokor system probably owes more than 40 billion kuna, and perhaps even more than 50 billion. Such debt has endangered everyone; creditors, suppliers, and workers, as well as the Republic of Croatia. It was obvious that bankruptcy would occur, and in bankruptcy, everyone would lose, especially workers, suppliers, creditors, and the Republic of Croatia, and this could not happen,” said Marić.

When asked about the long-term plan for Kutina’s Petrokemija, considering that some binding offers for the company have arrived, the Minister of State Property said that the Government has strategically decided on the recapitalization of Petrokemija, in the sense that it should be a permanent solution for preserving production and jobs.
