ZAGREB – The President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović will attend the ceremony of the oath of the 15th generation of cadets and the marking of the beginning of the new academic year 2017/2018 at the Croatian Military Academy (HVU) “Dr. Franjo Tuđman”. ZAGREB – Round table on violence against women and domestic violence on the National Day of the Fight Against Violence Against Women organized by the Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy. It is held in memory of the tragic murder of three women – a judge, a lawyer, and a party in the proceedings, as well as the serious injury of a court officer, which occurred during a divorce proceeding at the Municipal Court in Zagreb on September 22, 1999, committed by the husband of the party in the proceedings. The aim of the round table is to discuss society’s responsibility in protecting women’s human rights and the challenges and obligations in protecting women victims of violence and achieving full equality between women and men. The Minister of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy Nada Murganić will address the attendees with a speech. Police officer for prevention from the Ministry of the Interior Marija Goatti will speak about the issue of violence against women from the perspective of police work, with a special focus on prevention, while the president of the Women’s Group Karlovac “Korak” Mirjana Duduković will present experiences and challenges in working with women victims of domestic violence. The round table will be moderated by a judge of the High Misdemeanor Court of the Republic of Croatia and an expert in the field of protection from domestic violence Branka Žigante Živković (1 PM, European House hall, Jurišićeva 1/I.)
ZAGREB – Press conference of the Croatian Professional Union of Nurses – Medical Technicians (HSS MS-MT) related to the complete privatization of primary health care announced by Minister of Health Milan Kujundžić. The topic of the conference is “Privatization of Primary Health Care? What kind of health care awaits us – fewer and fewer nurses!” Members of this union from all over Croatia will attend the conference, and the opening will be given by the president of the Main Council Anica Prašnjak and members of the Union (11 AM, premises of the Hospitality and Tourism School, Kombolova 2).
